COCONINO COUNTY — Stronger as One and NACA’s Native Connections are hosting three upcoming Youth Focus Groups via Zoom at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 on the impact of COVID-19 on mental health and wellbeing of youth in our community. Youth who participate are helping inform our work to support them during this difficult time, and will receive a gift card to either Dutch Bros or Sprouts!
We would greatly appreciate you sharing our invitation with your youths, parents of youths who might be interested, and any other individuals who might be interested. We are looking for young people ages 12-18 to participate in any one of our 1 hour groups.
Please share this opportunity with any youth who may be interested!

Additional focus groups will be held on 12/2 and 12/3 from 3:30-4:30, and 12/5 from 11-12.
What is a Focus Group? A small group of people whose opinions about something (ex. Mental Health) are studied to learn the opinions of a larger group.
Our Goal: To gain better understanding of teen and young adult mental health during COVID-19 directly from teens and young adults!
Next Steps: Offer more effective programs to support teens and young adults using this information, and use the information given to help create a community needs assessment.
Stronger As One is a values driven coalition based in Coconino County, committed to promoting a culture of knowledge, compassion, and action for mental health and wellbeing, and preventing suicide in our community. Our commitment is to engage honestly, respectfully, and with trust for each other and our service organizations so that our collaborative work may help all.
Native Americans for Community Action, Inc. (NACA) Native Connections Program will work in collaboration with community youth, young adults, families, elders and community leaders alongside local youth serving agencies in the Flagstaff area. This program will collaboratively design a plan of action that will include improvements to the local mental health/behavioral health system in an effort to reduce suicidal behavior and substance use and the impacts of trauma along with the promotion of mental health well-being among Native American youth through 24 years of age.
