Dr. Mica Gonzalez

Dr. Mica Gonzalez is a clinical psychologist specializing in child therapy. His work involves helping children with to see the good in themselves, strengthen their emotional skills, and reduce any concurrent anxious or depressive symptoms. Dr. Gonzalez sees parents as a key ally in this process and regularly meets with them to effect positive change for their child in the home and at school. He is trained in Child-Parent Psychotherapy, a trauma-informed approach to early intervention, and has an endorsement as an Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist from the California Center for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health. Dr. Gonzalez is the co-founder and clinical director Family First Psychotherapy in Oakland, CA.
Dr. Sam Himelstein

Dr. Sam Himelstein is a licensed psychologist in the state of California and the co-found and CEO of Family First Psychotherapy in Oakland, CA. He specializes in working with children, teens, and their families and along with direct counseling travels the country training other professionals in how to effectively work with adolescents. He has published multiple scholarly articles and three books, including his most recent “Trauma-Informed Mindfulness With Teens: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals” (Norton, 2019).
