Northern Arizona drivers who use Interstate 40 should plan for daytime delays while the Arizona Department of Transportation completes roadway work on 17 miles of pavement west of Flagstaff. Motorists should expect delays due to intermittent ramp closures and traffic shifts on east- and westbound I-40 between Parks (milepost 179) and Williams (milepost 163) starting Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Crews are scheduled to apply a final top layer of pavement, known as friction course, between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. Work is expected to take approximately three weeks.
Motorists should follow posted detour signs during ramp closures and proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.
