How the Literacy Fair will make an impact. Workshops at the fair will introduce families to simple, fun literacy strategies – like word games and conversation techniques – that can be used at home, in the car, or during everyday activities.
Each child will leave with age-appropriate books and a literacy kit with games and tools that parents and caregivers can use to make reading a part of their child’s daily life. Many thanks to Bookmans, which will be onsite to provide free books, and PNC Bank, which has created literacy bags for preschoolers for the event.
In addition to the workshops and take-home materials, the event will also feature representatives from organizations like The Literacy Center and the Coconino Coalition for Children and Youth, providing valuable information about local programs and resources available to families.
How you can help. We are seeking donations of age-appropriate books for preschoolers through third graders. Your contributions will help foster a love for reading and learning in young children.
Book donations can be dropped off at UWNA, 1515 E. Cedar Ave., Suite D-1, Flagstaff, by Wednesday, February 19. You can also donate to UWNA specifically to secure books for the Literacy Fair HERE.
This event was made possible thanks to the generosity of several organizations. In addition to the partners listed above, the Literacy Fair also receives support from Northern Arizona University, Coconino County Education Service Agency, Delta Dental, Culture Connection AZ, and the Flagstaff Unified School District. We are grateful for all our partners shared commitment to improving literacy rates and empowering families in northern Arizona. |
