United States Congressman Tom O'Halleran, Representing the first District of Arizona

Dear Friend,

September was a busy month both here in Washington and in Arizona’s First Congressional District.

It is important to me to be transparent and accountable to you, so I wanted to take a moment to share our busy month with you.

Over the course of the month, my team and I

  • sponsored three bills to improve the lives of Arizona families, seniors, tribes, and communities:
    • the PROMISE Act, a bill to address the challenges Arizona families are facing as a result of the decommissioning of the Navajo Generating Station;
    • the Nursing Home Care for Native American Veterans Act, legislation that seeks to close a loophole that currently prevents veterans nursing homes on tribal lands from receiving federal construction and operations grant money;
    • the EASE Act, a bill to ensure our rural electric providers are not left behind as our energy marketplace evolves;
  • hosted a workshop on the federal budget with constituents in Flagstaff;

  • was recognized as a recipient of the Spirit of Enterprise Award from US Chamber of Commerce for my policy work to support Arizona businesses;
  • held open office hours in all three of my district offices to hear directly from you;

  • was honored to speak at the National Congress of American Indians’ Tribal Unity Day, to hear from tribal leaders about the issues affecting their unique communities;
  • met with the Arizona VFW to learn how we in Congress can work together to better serve our veterans;

  • expanded my passion for education by joining the Congressional Pre-K Caucus and their efforts to support early childhood education nationwide.

It is an honor to represent you in Congress. My door is always open, and I urge you to call or write to share your thoughts and concerns with me.
