Dear Northern Arizona Patron of the Arts,
It has been a privilege to serve as Theatrikos’ executive director. I thank the board of directors for allowing me to join the team for a small stretch of Theatrikos’ long and vibrant history. Theatrikos produces shows that our Flagstaff audience loves. We’ve been doing that for more than 50 years. I know we’ll keep doing it for another 50 years.
Theatrikos has a diligent and conscientious board, an amazing staff, a passionate cast and crew and dedicated and committed volunteers. All which will ensure the theatre’s ongoing success. It has been an honor to work alongside so many of these wonderful artists.
But it’s time for me to move on to new challenges and opportunities. I’ll be moving cross country where I’ve accepted the executive director position at an incredible equity theatre. Annie is my last show with Theatrikos. And I couldn’t be happier than with this magnificent show. Theatrikos’ board of directors is undertaking a national search for my replacement.
First, artistically Annie is an amazing show. Additionally, a little bit of the business side of theatre: doing big summer family musicals like Annie enable Theatrikos to do more cutting edge (and less financially viable) shows like our Studio Shows. This is a tried-and-true theatre strategy that Theatrikos is following.
We’ll continue to embrace this time-tested theatre business model with our 2025 season. We’ll announce that season at Sneak Peek on September 14—with all of its directors selected and already working on their shows.
Theatrikos is a driving force in Flagstaff’s arts community. I love Theatrikos and I love Flagstaff and I always will. I thank you for your commitment to an artistically wonderful and financially viable theatre and for your support of performing arts in Northern Arizona.
Thank you,
Chris Verrill
