Samuel Conley

Conley, a Prescott native, went from directionless to determined and earned a spot in NAU’s Honors College. After four years of transformative research, study and extracurricular experiences, Conley isn’t sure about his next steps—but he knows he wants to keep learning and helping others.

Iglesias-Buck hasn’t taken the traditional route of becoming a nurse. But the experiences she’s had, including becoming a doula and yoga instructor, volunteering for the Peace Corps in Senegal and working as a bartender, have prepared her for nursing in unexpected ways.

Selected as the distinguished senior for the College of the Environment, Forestry, and Natural Sciences, Marshall doesn’t shy away from challenges. Instead, she uses them to find opportunities—like working for NAU’s Pathogen and Microbiome Institute—and to build stronger community connections.

NAU’s honorary doctorate recipients for 2024

Paul Luna, president and CEO of Helios Education Foundation; Pam Kehaly, president and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona; Christy Farley, an NAU alumna who recently retired as senior vice president of engagement and public affairs; and Efrain Casillas, coordinator of music programs at Tolleson Elementary School District and 2024 Arizona Teacher of the Year, will be recognized with honorary doctorates. End each will provide the keynote address during one of NAU’s four commencement ceremonies.
