Get ready for NAU’s 100th Homecoming!

This year’s Homecoming festivities are set for Oct. 14-19, and that means it’s time to dust off your blue and yellow flannel and get ready for a week of nonstop fun! We’re marking this important anniversary with some of the Lumberjack community’s favorite traditions, including the Homecoming parade, the ASNAU carnival, a delicious chili cook-off and a special pre-game tailgate. Mouse-ic to our ears

Loud noise damages and even kills auditory cells. But what if it didn’t? Professor O’neil Guthrie’s research on a special mechanism in mouse DNA could lead to breakthroughs in prevention and treatment for hearing loss in humans.

Filling local gaps in care

For children who live in rural areas and don’t speak English at home, speech disorders can go undiagnosed. To address the problem, communication sciences professor Fe Murray and her grad students travel throughout the region to provide free multilingual speech evaluations.

Celebrating record support

NAU raised more than $46.3 million in the last fiscal year, capping off a historic three-year period that raised 2.5 times more funds than in 2019-2021. The record support from generous donors is helping fuel NAU’s commitment to broadening participation in postsecondary education.

A shared understanding

Last week, NAU formalized a longtime collaboration with Castro Carazo University in Costa Rica by signing a memorandum of understanding. The budding partnership will build on the two institutions’ shared strengths around ecology and forestry, growing workforces in both countries.
