How to create a less flammable forest

Fires in the West have been getting more severe and threatening more communities in the last 30 years. A team, including ecologists and economists from NAU, received a grant from the National Science Foundation to study how communities can use fuel treatments to keep themselves safe and preserve their relationship to the forests they love.

Arizona K12 Center announces teacher residency program

The program, which is based on medical residencies, will help prepare recent college grads and newer teachers to be more effective classroom leaders. It is supported by a $5 million grant from the Arizona Department of Education.

A collaboration between the Institute for Human Development and the Northwest Indian College Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation Institute will provide culturally responsive education, guidance, training and technical assistance to the 86 American Indian vocational rehabilitation projects throughout the country, thanks in part of a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
