Superintendent of Schools Announces Annual Teacher Award Winners

Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Cheryl Mango-Paget is pleased to announce the winner of the 2023 Coconino County Teacher of the Year award is Emily Fisher of Marshall Magnet School.

The winner of the 2023 Coconino County Rookie Teacher of the Year award is Josie Teegardin of Mount Elden Middle School. The recipient of the 2023 Lifetime Achievement award is Brad Houston of Grand Canyon School.

The winners were announced at the 10th Annual Coconino County Teacher of the Year Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Doubletree by Hilton.

Coconino County Superintendent of Schools to receive 2022 Woman Achiever of Arizona Award

Coconino County Superintendent of Schools, Cheryl Mango-Paget, has been recognized as a 2022 Woman Achiever of Arizona by the Arizona Capitol Times.  

The Arizona Capitol Times states that this award celebrates the accomplishments of women leaders who persevered and excelled in their work this year. A Woman Achiever of Arizona helps Arizonans today and prepares the state for a flourishing future. Cheryl Mango-Paget will be honored with other Women Achiever Winners at a luncheon on October 25, 2022, at the Phoenix Art Museum. Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Cheryl Mango-Paget is seeking applicants for appointment for Page Unified School District #8. 

Applicants must be Arizona registered voters and residents of the school district for at least one year prior to the date of appointment. Applicants or their spouses cannot be an employee of the district.

Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Cheryl Mango-Paget  is seeking candidates for vacant seats for Coconino Community College District #2 and Coconino Community College District #3. 

Both Coconino Community College District #2 and Coconino Community College District #3 serve a term of six (6) years.

Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Hosting Governing Board Informational Sessions March 8-15

The public is invited to attend local School District Governing Board informational sessions.

The informational sessions, hosted by Superintendent of Schools Cheryl Mango-Paget, will allow time for interested candidates to ask questions and complete required documents. Sessions are free and no appointment is required. 

Superintendent of Schools Seeking Applicants for Maine Consolidated School District Board

Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Cheryl Mango-Paget is seeking applicants for two vacant seats on the Maine Consolidated School District #10 Governing Board.

Applicants must reside in the school district and be registered to vote in Arizona. Applicants or their spouses cannot be an employee of the district.

School Superintendent to Interview Candidates for Grand Canyon Unified School District #4 Governing Board and Seeks Input

Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Cheryl Mango-Paget has announced the scheduling of interviews for the Governing School Board Member open seats at Grand Canyon Unified School District #4.

An advisory committee will be assembled consisting of a district resident, district teacher, and two current board members to conduct interviews and advise Superintendent Mango-Paget on the appointments.

The Superintendent is also seeking public input regarding the appointment of the Governing Board Member open seats at Grand Canyon Unified School District #4. Please contact the Superintendent with input (comments) at cmango-paget@coconino.az.gov, beginning January 18 – January 28, 2022.

The COVID-19 pandemic presented multiple challenges for teachers and students over the last year. We have witnessed the strength and ingenuity of Coconino County teachers through these difficult times and would like to acknowledge those who have been exceptionally outstanding in developing inventive curriculum and strategies for supporting student learning during the 2020/2021 school year.

Coconino County appoints Cheryl Mango-Paget as Superintendent of Schools

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors has appointed Cheryl Mango-Paget as Coconino County Superintendent of Schools effective immediately.

Mango-Paget has served as the Associate Superintendent for Coconino County since 2012, holds a certificate to teach in schools in the state of Arizona, and holds Arizona administrator and superintendent certifications. Mango-Paget has classroom experience as a teacher and administrator, and expertise and passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Education (STEM).

Canceling the Annual Coconino County Teacher of the Year and Rookie Teacher of the Year Awards Event

Each year, the Coconino County Superintendent of Schools office holds a Teacher of the Year, Rookie Teacher of the Year and Ambassadors for Excellence Awards Event, but due to COVID-19, the 2020-2021 event will not be held. The School Superintendent’s Office hopes to continue the annual tradition in the future.
