2023 County Spelling BEE Winner and Runners-up Announced

Cheryl Mango-Paget, County Superintendent of Schools, would like to announce Coconino County’s 2023 Spelling BEE winner is Calliope Hill from Montessori School of Flagstaff.

Calliope was determined the winner upon spelling the word “trilby” correctly after battling through the last few rounds with runner up Ember Evans from Flagstaff Christian School and third place winner, James Janik from Mount Elden Middle School. Congratulations Calliope Hill on winning the 2023 County Spelling Bee! You should be incredibly proud knowing your efforts and skills paid off and contributed to your recent achievement. Calliope Hill received $250 from the Flagstaff Rotary Club and will move on to compete in the State Spelling Bee on March 18, 2023.

Coconino County Superintendent of Schools to receive 2022 Woman Achiever of Arizona Award

Coconino County Superintendent of Schools, Cheryl Mango-Paget, has been recognized as a 2022 Woman Achiever of Arizona by the Arizona Capitol Times.  

The Arizona Capitol Times states that this award celebrates the accomplishments of women leaders who persevered and excelled in their work this year. A Woman Achiever of Arizona helps Arizonans today and prepares the state for a flourishing future. Cheryl Mango-Paget will be honored with other Women Achiever Winners at a luncheon on October 25, 2022, at the Phoenix Art Museum. Coconino County Teacher of the Year and the Rookie Teacher of the Year Nominations Open

After previously having cancelled, Coconino County Superintendent of Schools, Cheryl Mango-Paget, is pleased to announce the reinstatement of the 9th Annual Teacher of the Year and the 4th Annual Rookie Teacher of the Year Awards.

The COVID-19 pandemic presented multiple challenges for teachers and students over the last year. We have witnessed the strength and ingenuity of Coconino County teachers through these difficult times and would like to acknowledge those who have been exceptionally outstanding in developing inventive curriculum and strategies for supporting student learning during the 2020/2021 school year.

County Superintendent of Schools announces 2021 Spelling BEE Winner

Cheryl Mango-Paget, County Superintendent of Schools, would like to announce Coconino County’s 2021 Spelling BEE winner is Mae Ann Bradford from Basis.ed.

She was determined the winner after 2 tiebreakers were completed. Congratulations Mae Ann on winning the 2021 County Spelling Bee! You should be incredibly proud knowing your efforts and skills paid off and contributed to your recent achievement. Mae Ann will receive $250 from the Flagstaff Rotary Club and will move on to compete in the March State Spelling Bee.

Coconino County appoints Cheryl Mango-Paget as Superintendent of Schools

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors has appointed Cheryl Mango-Paget as Coconino County Superintendent of Schools effective immediately.

Mango-Paget has served as the Associate Superintendent for Coconino County since 2012, holds a certificate to teach in schools in the state of Arizona, and holds Arizona administrator and superintendent certifications. Mango-Paget has classroom experience as a teacher and administrator, and expertise and passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Education (STEM).
