Dear Residents,
It has been a productive day in District 2. As promised in this morning’s update, we had crews in the field going door to door providing information and assisting with evaluating damage and threats from flood water. If you were not home, crews left a notice on your door handle and made a visual assessment of the property. We are trying to determine which properties are in need of further protection from potential future flooding. An aerial view of the area has also been done and all mitigation completed on the mountain has remained intact and did not fail. Debris came off the burn area into the neighborhoods. The water did stay in the channels as it was designed to do. We believe that 98% of the damaging water did come off Peaceful Way watershed. The assessment has determined septic systems inspected were not compromised.
A sandbag station has been set up at the old Tumbleweed Store on North 89 across from Copeland Lane. At this time there are pre-made sand bags. However, there will be materials to fill bags in the future.
Our County crews are in the neighborhoods clearing drainage ditches, driveways and roads as quickly, efficiently and safely as possible. All fencing damaged along channels will be repaired as soon as possible to help keep everyone safe from future runoff.
United Way of Northern Arizona is now registering volunteers for the flood area. If you are interested in volunteering, please text VOLUNTEERNOW to 51555 or call (928) 773-9813 extension 219.
Please stay safe and more information will be provided when received.
Thank you,
Liz Archuleta
