Dear Residents,
All roads are open and passable in the area. Crews continue to work to remove debris and repair damage to infrastructure.
The ground on the Mountain is saturated. Because of this any future rain storms will result in run-off. The Weather Service is forecasting rain today in the late morning/early afternoon. We will have crews on the ground monitoring the area for potential flooding and heavy equipment deployed into the area for debris clean-up will remain in the area. Power outages should be restored. If you do not have electricity, please call us at the Information Call Center to let us know. The Red Cross Shelter at Cromer Elementary
School will remain open until 2:00 PM today.
United Way of Northern Arizona and a team of volunteers will be going door-to-door to do welfare checks and assess the flood damage to homes and/or properties. An Information Call Center has been established to take calls from affected residents and to receive reports on damage. Please call in to report damage to your property and/or home. This will assist us in determining what resources we need for recovery. The phone number is (928) 213-2990.
Sandbags are available at the old Tumbleweed store on Highway 89. We will have some pre-made sandbags available and will be replenishing the supply continuously. There will also be materials on site to fill sandbags. We will also be deploying cement jersey barriers to the area.
Please know the flood mitigation channels we constructed carried an enormous amount of water and debris yesterday. Water and debris that would have otherwise gone into the neighborhoods. Almost 6 inches of rainfall in a little over an hour is unprecedented.
Please remember to keep your distance from the fast moving water and debris in the channels. Your safety is our number one priority.
Thank you,
Liz Archuleta
