FLAGSTAFF — Immigration Attorney Susan Maclay will present, “The New Asylum Regime: An Immigration Lawyer’s Perspective,” at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 at Liberal Arts Building 20, Room 136., Northern Arizona University.
Weaponized asylum law, demonized refugees, and the closing of the southern border: The talk will examine the strength and weakness of US asylum law, and trace The United States’ responses to recent border migration through the deployment of unprecedented and radical immigration policies like Metering, Migrant Protection Protocols, and the Transit Ban. The speaker is an asylum and immigration attorney recently returned from work with asylum seekers in Tijuana.
