Sept. 21 — 2017 International Peace Day Celebration to be held in Flagstaff

Join us on September 21st for this years Peace Day Celebration, Walk & Event!

The International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day, is observed annually on September 21st. The General Assembly of the United Nations designated the day to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.

The Flagstaff Peace Day Celebration committee will sponsor an International Day of Peace Celebration in Flagstaff on Thursday evening September 21st, 2017. The celebration will begin at 4:00 P.M. in front of the Peace Pole near the Student Union building on the NAU campus. The group will walk from north campus to Heritage Square in Downtown Flagstaff where they will meet others around 4:40pm. The group will convene for about 30 min before walking over to City Hall. At City Hall, the group will display their support for peace day along the rt. 66, followed by multiple presentations and exercises. 

What to Bring:

-Traditional Clothing of your country of origin
-Your Country’s Flag!
-Your own home made banner/poster about peace day
-A Friend

Schedule:

4:00 – Assemble Outside Union on North Campus at the Peace Pole with your flag.
4:20 – Begin Walk to Heritage Square from Campus.
4:50 – Presentation/Discussion at Heritage Square.

5:05 – Walk to City Hall from Heritage Square

5:15 – Peace presentation on lawn
5:30 – Welcome
5:40 – International Peace Day Proclamation – Coral Evans, Mayor of Flagstaff
5:50 – Presentations
6:10 – A Prayer for Peace
6:20 – Songs for Peace
