FLAGSTAFF — Culture Connection AZ, in partnership with The Literacy Center and NAU’s Center for International Education, proudly announces the 3rd annual Welcome To Flagstaff event in downtown Flagstaff. In recognition of Flagstaff’s incredibly diverse community, the goal of this event is to welcome newcomers to Flagstaff who were born outside of the United States and provide an opportunity for them to meet and connect with local members of our community.
Culture Connection AZ’s Executive Director, Audra Travelbee, said “We are so excited to be partnering with NAU’s CIE and The Literacy Center to once again welcome international newcomers to Flagstaff. At last year’s event we welcomed over 150 international students, workers, and residents, and we expect to exceed that number this year. At a time when there is a lot of negative talk about immigrants, we believe it’s important to let them know that they are an extremely valuable part of what makes our community special, and we want them here.”
The 3rd Annual Welcome To Flagstaff event will take place Friday, October 20, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm at The Historic Ice House, 201 E Birch Ave, in downtown Flagstaff. Locals are encouraged to attend to welcome the large number of newcomers from countries including Spain, India, Ghana, China, Peru, and more! This year’s event will include games for attendees to play together, food, and live music from The Pocket Limes.
Admission is free. Donations are always welcome to support the work that Culture Connection AZ does for our community. Attendees can park for free at the Coconino County Administration Building located one block from the event at 219 E Cherry St.
