Sedona Arts Center represents over 100 professional local and regional artists. The Art Gallery on campus is a dynamic, ever-changing display of local talent in all dimensions and forms. Part of that dynamic is the bi-monthly featured artists program where a section of the overall gallery allows for a special group exhibition of selected artists.

Betty Carr

Betty Carr was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California and developed a love of art from visiting museums. For 23 years she taught art in public schools and did sculpture in her spare time. Betty received her MFA from San Jose State University and has taught painting and sculpture for many years. She is a Master Artist in the American Impressionist Society; signature member of the Arizona Plein Air Painters and Northern Arizona Watercolor Society and Knickerbocker Artists. Carr is the author of the acclaimed instructional book, “Seeing the Light, An Artist’s Guide,” and has contributed to numerous books and periodicals. Her work is featured in the book “Sedona’s Best Artists.”

Geo Stabila

Geo is a native New Yorker who was transplanted to Lake Havasu, Arizona in 1972. He and his wife Suzanne (also an artist) now live in Sedona, AZ. Geo was inspired to create assemblage art while vacationing in Santa Monica, California.  Having been a wood carver for the past 20 years it was a natural segway into assemblage art.   He said from the moment he saw the art form he knew that he would go in this direction. Creating harmony out of chaos is Geo’s destination when he is assembling his pieces–making art that suggests subtle relationships and themes from items not normally seen together that delight the viewer’s sense of imagination. In this unique art form that some call “steam punk”, the possibilities are endless.
