Sedona Arts Center update for Oct. 14 — Free presentations Oct. 16

The 14th Annual Sedona Plein Air Festival, taking place NOW—is a week-long celebration of extraordinary landscape painting by nationally known artists featuring educational events and demonstrations, public paint-outs (where all the artists paint at a specific location) all leading to a final awards night on Friday October 19th. Most events are free and open to the public!  Sedona Arts Center invites you along to be inspired and experience master artists painting in the Shangri-La of the Southwest!

TONIGHT! Sunday, October 14 (& again on Tuesday Night), 7–8 pm
“Paint-outside the Box” Presentation with Carl Judson

The public is invited to attend a free presentation on the history of plein air painting from Da Vinci to David Hockney. The theme of the night is an exploration of personal style in plein air work. Carl Judson is the owner of Guerrilla Painter a company that provides all material associated with Plein Air painting including pochade boxes, paints and accessories. Guerrilla Painter is a sponsor of the awards at all three of the paint-outs in the festival.

Enjoy These Free Presentations!

FREE Demonstrations – These demonstrations provide an intimate two-hour session for an individual Sedona Plein Air Festival artist to profile their approach to painting from life outdoors. Artists will demonstrate on the South East corner of the Sedona Arts Center campus behind the historic Art Barn.

Wednesday, October 17
Creekside Paint Out at L’Auberge de Sedona

The public is invited to watch artists paint both still and moving water, reflections, sycamores and ducks at this beautiful setting along Oak Creek. Awards and sale immediately following at L’Auberge de Sedona. Public Shuttle provided by Red Rock Magic Trolley from 8:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. picking up in the Sedona Arts Center lower parking lot and shuttling to and from nearby L’Auberge Resort.

Sedona Arts Center is one of Northern Arizona’s most well-established cultural organizations and serves as the creative heart of Sedona. Founded in 1958, the nonprofit organization is based in Uptown, Sedona and offers year-round classes, exhibitions, festivals, and cultural events that enhance the creative life of the Verde Valley. The Center’s Fine Art Gallery, open daily from 10am to 5pm, promotes the original works of over 100 local artists and regularly offers special assistance for collectors and art buyers, offers private studio visits, and fosters hundreds of arts education opportunities each year.
