Watercolor For All Levels
An Online Workshop with Betty Carr
July 10 – 11, 2021
Capturing the beauty of light in a Sedona landscape in Watercolor

Betty will focus on the “how to’s” of seeing light on the beautiful forms in and around Sedona, Arizona in this Online Workshop. Learn about temperatures of light and shadow (cool and warm) and working with hard and soft edges in creating depth for your watercolor landscape. Luminosity in your painting is a goal!

Betty will be demonstrating tricks and techniques for rendering the limited and glowing light that envelopes the Sedona landscape. You will be learning various ways to create textural effects in watercolor using impressionistic and painterly brushwork. How to paint using glazing techniques as well as incorporating frisket in your work will be covered.

The warm and cool glow that surrounds nature’s forms in a landscape will be conveyed in your work. Watercolor lends itself perfectly for capturing the unique lighting conditions which makes the Sedona landscape such a special subject to paint.

As a Master in the American Impressionist Society, Betty Carr will be emphasizing how to achieve  impressionistic and dynamic paintings using loose painterly brushwork while capturing light.

The Inspired Abstract
An Online Workshop with Julie Bernstein Engelmann
September 20 – 23, 2021
This workshop gives you a powerful foundation for abstract painting. You’ll be guided to enter the painting process naturally, use layers to develop a deep and luscious visual space, and weave into it brush-marks that grow from a personally meaningful inspiration. You’ll learn to see the spirit in your painting and help it shine powerfully.

A focus of the workshop is to find ease in bringing your mid-process “beautiful mess” to fulfilled completion. You’ll create two acrylic paintings that embody meaning, naturalness, and spatial depth & flow – qualities that lift an abstract painting from amateur to professional.

Find Your Authentic Voince in Plein Air
with Carol Douglas
September 26 – October 1, 2021
This workshop is aimed at helping painters refine their personal technique in watercolor, pastel, oils and acrylics. It will help you find your own voice and style without becoming anyone’s clone. This is an intensive class, with morning and afternoon on-site painting sessions and lunch-time discussions and demos. Classes are kept small so every student gets the attention they deserve.

We stress painting protocols to get you to good results with the least amount of wasted time. That means focusing on drawing, brushwork, and accurate observation. You will learn to paint boldly, using fresh, clean color. You’ll learn to build commanding compositions, and to use hue, value and line to draw the eye through your paintings.

All Levels Welcome!
