How to Sell Art! with Jason Horejs

5 to 6pm, FREE to SAC members, $10 everyone else
Jason Horejs, Owner of Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale AZ and Author of , “Starving to Successful : The Fine Artist’s Guide to Getting into Galleries and Selling More Art” and “How to Sell Art : A Systematic Approach to Creating Relationships with Collectors and Closing the Sale”, will give a presentation on selling art and creating relationships with collectors.Jason has been in the art business his entire life. His father is a nationally collected painter and Jason started working in a gallery at the age of 17. In 2001 he established Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ, where he has worked with artists and collectors from around the world. In 2007 he developed a workshop series to help artists approach galleries professionally. He has taught workshops in over 30 cities nationally and has helped hundreds of artists reach their goals to get into galleries.

This seminar will address issues of how to engage collectors, and how to sell art whether you are in a gallery situation,  selling on your own, or even selling online.

Ceramics For All Levels / 6 Class Sessions + 6 Open Studio Sessions

The Sedona Arts Center’s ceramic department operates free from the constraints of grades and benefits from the talents of its ceramic faculty and assistants as well as nationally recognized guest instructors. This combination allows our department to offer flexible and diverse programming in both traditional and contemporary techniques.

Through demonstration and one-on-one instruction, students will learn to throw a variety of forms on the potter’s wheel or techniques to create hand-built works. Slab roller, extruder and forms are also available to create functional and decorative pieces. Tuition includes the first 25-pound bag of clay, firings and glazes, and one open studio session per week.

*Note that the Monday class is reserved for experienced ceramicists!

Comic Book Crash Course
December 14 – 15, 2019

Ever wanted to make a comic book?  This course is for the student who has always wanted to be Stan Lee or Jack Kirby.  Learn the ins and outs on how to write, pencil, ink, and letter a comic book.  Learn from Sedona-based comic book artist/cartoonist, Jan Marc “The Janimal” Quisumbing, former art director with New York City-based comic book publisher Pronto Comics and current president of the Northern Arizona Cartoonist Association, and from DC and Marvel Comics veteran, Dave Beaty, whose credits include Justice League, Batman Incorporated, Wonder Woman, and X-Men.

The end goal will be for students to produce a fully drawn page of sequential art.  Open to kids 12-15 years old.

Fun with Art & Wine

Join Melanie and Brian Gold in this is a fun two-hour adventure, creating a 12×16 acrylic painting on canvas.  Local landscape subject matter and a surprisingly fool-proof, step-by-step process leads to fun, laughs, more wine, and then your painting is finished – suitable for framing! Class runs from 6-8pm

Wine will be available to participants 21 years and older.

Cost: $35 includes all art materials to complete your painting!

2nd Annual Fiber Trunk Show
December 6 – 15, 2019
at Sedona Arts CenterJoin us in Uptown, Sedona on First Friday December 6, 2019 to get first dibs on the one-of-a-kind, hand-made, wearable art by 18 amazing Fiber Artists.

This special ‘Trunk Show’ includes knitted, woven, and felted shawls, ponchos, vests, hats, hand warmers, and artistic bags. New this year is a “Granny Grab” filled with children’s wear. The exhibit will be in the North Gallery December 6 through 15.

10% of all sales will benefit the Verde Valley Sanctuary.

Loving Bowls Special Silent Auction PreviewsSedona Arts Center will proudly present its annual Loving Bowls charity fundraiser on December 14 from noon to 3pm at the Historic Art Barn in Uptown Sedona. This fantastic fundraiser offers a beautiful selection of Loving Bowls for your purchasing pleasure, plus loads of food and fun! Over 1500 bowls will be made and lovingly glazed in a variety of finishes by professional volunteer potters. Bowls are $10 each and come with wonderful chili, bread and desert.

First Friday at Sedona Arts Center, 5–8pm

On First Friday December 6 at 4:00 pm Efren Lopez will share his experiences as a Route 66 Photographer at the Sedona Arts Center. The images that Efren creates are intended to enrich the traveling experience of visitors to the Mother Road. His work is available at many spots along the historic route. His photography is used on calendars, postcards, posters, puzzles and fine-art prints available for purchase in gift shops along the Main Street of America as well as the Sedona Arts Center. The presentation is free and open to the public.December 11, 2019

Sedona Arts Center is one of Northern Arizona’s most well-established cultural organizations and serves as the creative heart of Sedona.
