In recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, CCC&Y will present the 2017 Annual Child Abuse Prevention Conference and Luncheon
— “Strengthening Ourselves, Families and Communities,” at the Little America, Flagstaff March 30th, 2017.Claire Louge, of Prevent Abuse Arizona will be this year’s keynote speaker presenting: “Resilience in Rupture, Strength in Stress.”The conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring the presentation of awards to five outstanding Coconino County community members who have given exceptional support and care to children and youth. Also, Mayor Evans will be presenting the City’s Proclamation and Chairwoman Archuleta will present the County’s Proclamation for Child Abuse Prevention.
Virginia Watahomigie, Executive Director for the Coconino Coalition for Children & Youth will present the lunch presentation with a focus on community building and the effects of traumatic environments for children.
The conference is sponsored by the Child Welfare Training Project at NAU, Unisource and APS.
Proceeds from this year’s Annual Child Abuse Prevention Fundraiser and Caring for Children Awards will support CCC&Y’s prevention, community education and child advocacy efforts throughout the year.
