FLAGSTAFF — The City of Flagstaff was recently made aware of a proposed land exchange that would fulfill federal government commitments under the 1996 Navajo-Hopi Land Dispute Settlement Act (P.L. 104-363).
This exchange was proposed by Senator McCain and Congressman O’Halleran and could include a range of lands throughout northern Arizona, including land near Flagstaff.
On Feb. 26, 2018 the City of Flagstaff, Coconino County, the City of Williams and City of Winslow met to draft a joint response to this proposal and discuss the lands slated for possible inclusion. This response will be discussed at the upcoming joint Flagstaff City Council and Coconino County Board of Supervisors meeting starting at 4 p.m. on March 12, 2018 at City Hall, 211 W. Aspen Avenue.
Once opportunities for public input are identified, the City of Flagstaff and our partners will publicize them.
