Several city commissions have offered feedback on the La Plaza Vieja Neighborhood Plan, which has been incorporated into a final public hearing draft, the city reported in a media release.
Staff anticipates a decision on the plan at the city council meeting.
“La Plaza Vieja plan is going in front of the city council for approval. We need people to show up and support the approval of the plan,” said Jesse Dominguez of the Plaza Vieja Neighborhood Association.
Dominguez is seeking help to get the word out to residents of the Arrowhead Village Mobile Home Park so they can have a say so in protecting themselves from future development.
Plaza Vieja has been the center of controversy in recent years due to proposed development of a student housing project in the historic neighborhood.
Hundreds of neighborhood residents packed city council chambers in 2014 in opposition to a proposed multi-story, 500-student housing project that would have displaced residents from the mobile home park.
The proposed project was put on hold by the city council following two days of public comment.
