Oct. 22 — A virtual evening with Chilean folk musician, activist Nano Stern to be presented by NAU Latin American Studies, Martin-Springer Institute, University of Arizona Latin American Studies

A virtual evening with Chilean folk musician, activist Nano Stern to be presented by NAU Latin American Studies, Martin-Springer Institute, University of Arizona Latin American Studies at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 on Zoom.

Nano is an incredible singer songwriter / multi-instrumentalist. Joan Baez who has shared the stage with Nano, describes him as perhaps, “the best Chilean singer-songwriter of his generation, with his lyrics, melodies, message, humor and heart.”

Nano has released nine (9) albums and this last week he also released his first book of poetry: Décimas del Estallido: Chronology in verse of the rebellion in Chile.

For this presentation/concert Nano will talk about the history of the Chilean New Song movement, contemporary Chilean music, and the role of music and poetry within the massive political awakening that has been taking place in Chile since October 2018 (known by the slogan, “Chile despertó”).  And, of course Nano will sing and play!

If you’d like a taste of his virtuosity, here is a piece

The presentation is free but you need to register beforehand at: http://eepurl.com/hd7Evz
