Student Affairs is hosting an Indigenous Peoples’ Day event at Coconino Community College’s Lone Tree Campus on Monday, Oct. 11. Indigenous Peoples’ Day honors Indigenous peoples and recognizes their cultures and histories. During this year’s observance at CCC, the College’s Land Acknowledgement Statement will be the focus of attention.
Here is the agenda for the event:
7 a.m. – Morning Prayer

9 a.m. – Welcome Address
- Welcome – Dr. Colleen Smith, CCC President – CCC Land Acknowledgement, Native American-serving Nontribal Institutions grant.
- Keynote Speaker – Arizona Sen. Jamescita Peshlakai, D-Cameron
11 a.m. – Sacred Apache Land Presentation
- Don Decker, Apache
1 p.m. – Discussion: Beyond the Land Acknowledgement
