New Food Service and Restaurant Inspection Website provides inspection information

FLAGSTAFF — The Coconino County Public Health Services District (CCPHSD) has introduced a new Food Service and Restaurant Inspection Website. This website is designed to provide the public with information on food establishment and restaurant inspections conducted by the CCPHSD Environmental Health Program.

Over the past several years, public requests for Coconino County food service establishments and restaurant inspection information have increased. As a result, efforts to provide this information in a convenient publicly accessible format have been a priority.

The CCPHSD, in collaboration with the Coconino County Information Technology (IT) Department, had attempted to utilize the existing software tool to help the public access food service and restaurant inspection summary reports. This tool has proven ineffective for this reporting purpose and is scheduled to be replaced in early 2018.

In the interim, CCPHSD and IT have developed the Food Service and Restaurant Inspection Website which provides basic information on inspections of food service establishments. Future plans include replacing this website with a more robust website once the new software is in place.

Reports on the new Food Service and Restaurant Inspection Website are currently presented in PDF format. Historical information is available by month from January 2016 forward. Current reports will be posted at the end of each month. Food service establishments and restaurants are listed alphabetically and are searchable by restaurant name and address.

The website also provides explanations of code violations. In addition, the site includes a link to a user feedback survey and provides information about how to obtain a complete public record.

Environmental Health Specialists perform a wide variety of environmental and public health functions which include inspections of food service facilities and restaurants. Restaurants are inspected twice each year with follow-up inspections scheduled as needed to ensure noted violations are addressed.

The public is invited to try the new website and is encouraged to complete the user survey. Comments and suggestions will be used to continue to enhance the website. Future plans include the addition of an interactive map and mobile application.
