NAU Office of Inclusion — Celebrating Women’s/Womyn’s/Womxn’s History Month

National Women’s History Month – March 2021

Did you know…. President Jimmy Carter issued the first Presidential Proclamation declaring the week of March 8th, 1980 as National Women’s History Week, womenshistory.org. Since then, every March is designated Women’s History Month. 2021 National Women’s History Month Theme is “Refusing to be Silenced” as depicted in the above photo. Women’s History Month began as Women’s History Week; a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California in 1978, which led to a consortium of women’s groups/historians successfully petitioned for national recognition, in 1980. Please join in honoring and encouraging the study, observance, and celebration of the vital role of women in American history womenhistorymonth.gov. Also, please visit Coconino County’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Intranet page, to participate.
