Lewis, a transfer student from Coconino Community College, is a first-generation student who wanted to make sure her children had an educational role model. Her oldest daughter is preparing for college because it’s what their family does.

Castro Felix is graduating with a bachelor’s of science in nursing from NAU-Yuma. During her undergraduate education, she received 18 scholarships and volunteered at various flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinics in her community.
