FLAGSTAFF — The Museum Fire flood area siren alerting system has been installed in the Grandview Homes and Sunnyside neighborhoods and full-volume testing has been scheduled for Friday, June 17 from 12 – 2 p.m. During the full-volume testing period, residents in the area will hear an alarm sound, followed by a voice message repeated three times in both English and Spanish, concluding with a wind down siren sound signifying the end of that message. This process may repeat several times during the testing period. Testing may be postponed in the event of rain or impacts from nearby wildfires.

The Museum Fire flood area siren alerting system is a supplemental alerting system to provide additional notice of imminent danger to residents and does not replace the Emergency Notification Alert text messages. All residents in the area should register to receive Emergency Notification Alert text messages (free and confidential signup at http://www.coconino.az.gov/ready).
Correction to previous communication on the siren alerting system protocol
A previous communication on the Museum Fire flood area siren alerting system incorrectly stated the thresholds at which the siren alerting system would be activated. It was previously incorrectly stated that the siren alerting system would be activated at both Threshold 2 (0.40 inches of rain on the Museum Fire burn scar) and at Threshold 3 (0.75 inches of rain on the Museum Fire burn scar). In fact, the siren alerting system will only be activated when Threshold 3 is reached.
This protocol promotes consistency between the siren alerting system and the Emergency Notification Alert text messages. The emergency notification protocol that will be used for the 2022 monsoon season is unchanged from the protocol used in previous years; neighborhoods will receive Emergency Notification Alerts at the same rain thresholds as in previous years.
When residents receive the Emergency Notification Alert text message or hear the siren alerting system, they should immediately follow all safety instructions. Children should never play in drainages.
