Digital Resource Center: Classes & Workshops have begun

As construction of the Digital Resource Center nears completion we are thrilled to announce that our first workshop is already underway!

These inaugural workshops are designed to help groups tell their stories through digital documentation, engage new audiences, and make cases for marketing, philanthropy, and investment. The “TV to TikTok” workshop which began in March will provide instruction in content development, narrative storytelling, interview techniques, photography, video and audio recording equipment use, and software and editing for video production. We are honored to have Mei-Fang Hu, Assistant Professor of Practice at NAU School of Communication, as our first course lead. The initial cohort participating in “TV to TikTok” includes a variety of organizations from Flagstaff’s cultural sector, including representatives from Culture Connection AZ, Flagstaff Festival of Science, Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival, Liminal Café and Community Center, Lowell Observatory, Mother Road Brewing Company, Museum of Northern Arizona and Tynkertopia. Participants will work in pairs for co-mentorship and technical support to produce creative video projects that highlight an element of their respective organizations, ultimately telling their narrative through short documentary productions. Participating organizations have each been awarded a $500 honorarium as part of a Digital Transformation Micro-Grant generously supported by the Thoma Foundation. We are excited to see the work that will be produced by this first cohort and look forward to our next workshop series “About Us”, which aims to convey key mission points of organizations by creating immersive micro-websites. There is still limited space available in this second-round opportunity, to learn more and apply please visit our website  or contact our Media Lab Coordinator, Jay Gallegos with any questions.
