Northern Arizona University (NAU) is hosting the next generation of volunteers and philanthropists who are stepping up for our youththrough their work with the United Way.
The NAU student chapter of United Way has about a dozen core members who are organizing or working at a variety of events throughout the year.
“Our goal is just to have NAU students give back to the community,” said Grace Davis, a junior who serves as the organization’s president.
Since their founding two years ago, you’ll see members helping out at events that raise money for the United Way of Northern Arizona, like the recent holiday tree lighting at Little America and the Mountain Craft Holiday Fair at NAU.
“Those are always fun,” said Davis, “especially the Holiday of Lights at Little America because you get to see everyone getting into the holiday spirit.”
The group also has teamed up with Kinsey Elementary School, where they will hold a movie night next month for families. In March, members will participate in a special event to mark Dr. Seuss Day by reading age-appropriate books to the children, including Seuss classics and excerpts from the Harry Potter series.
