COCONINO COUNTY — The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, along with Northern Arizona Healthcare – Trauma Services, Highlands Fire Department and numerous other public service agencies are hosting the 2018 National Stop the Bleed Day in the Flagstaff area on Saturday March 31st. There are several classes scheduled throughout the day and throughout the Flagstaff area. Community members are invited to attend to receive training on how to stop life threatening bleeding.

Uncontrolled bleeding from any cause can result in death in as little as five minutes. The training consists of a class room presentation followed by hands on practice of how to apply items such as tourniquets, pressure dressings, and hemostatic gauze. The skills taught are useful in any type of traumatic injury resulting in sudden and rapid blood loss.
