Presentation: Standing Together: Xican Activism As A Model for Social Change
Overview:
This presentation aims to inspire students to stand in solidarity with marginalized groups by showcasing the power of collective action and the importance of cultural identity in the fight for change. Through a mix of presentations, discussions, and interactive activities, students will learn how Xican activism has art, education, and community organizing to advocate for labor rights, educational reform, and political representation.

Overview:
The flight for Xicano Studies is Real-Life David V. Goliath Story of Xicano Students at Michigan State University, through their involvement with Movimento Estudiantil Xicano de Aztlan (MEXA), agitation, and grassroots community organizing they forced a major university to establish a Xicano/Latino Studies Program, these students and their small and increasingly marginalized community were barraged by attack after attack. This documentary chronicles the main events that changed the trajectory of their lives.
