FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Flagstaff-based Loven Contracting has established a $2,000 scholarship at Coconino Community College for students studying the construction trades.
“We at Loven Contracting are passionate supporters of Coconino Community College’s mission to provide accessible and innovative educational opportunities within our community, and we are proud to sponsor the Building Relationships Scholarship in the field of Construction Technology,” said Michael Loven, President of Loven Contracting. “This is an exciting time in our industry, and we are eager to support a hard-working student’s efforts to successfully complete a program and begin a career.”
Two students will each receive $1,000 for the academic year. To be eligible for the Building Relationships Scholarship, a student at CCC must have the intention of completing the 24-credit Construction Technology certificate. He or she must also satisfy other requirements of the scholarship, which include writing a short essay, carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours, and maintaining a 2.5 GPA.
“The scholarship addresses an important need in our community for construction workers,” said Scott Talboom, Director of the CCC Foundation. “There is a huge shortage, and it helps to encourage students to get into the construction trades.”
Founded in 1985, Loven Contracting works across the Southwest, specializing in healthcare, education, commercial, hospitality and historic restoration sectors.
