Local First Arizona update for Oct. 3 — Flagstaff Plans for a Changing Climate

Climate change is bringing changes in temperature, snowpack, water availability, and wildfire risk to Flagstaff. These changes threaten Flagstaff’s natural resources, economy, infrastructure, and quality of life. This Climate Action and Adaptation Plan is a strategic roadmap to guide the Flagstaff community in preparing for climate risks, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and protecting the well-being of residents for decades to come. We encourage local businesses to bring their voices to the discussion in the following ways:

1) Read the Draft Plan and think about how it affects your business. Community input is highly sought after and can be given until October 24th. Click here to read the Draft Plan.

2) Attend an Open House. Three open houses will give the community an opportunity to review the Plan. Each event will begin with short talks given by community members or staff on how selected topics relate to climate change.

  • Thursday, October 4thWater and Forests
  • Monday, October 8thEnergy; Economic Prosperity and Recreation
  • Thursday, October 11thTransportation; Waste and Consumption

All three events will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, at the Murdoch Community Center, at 203 E. Brannen Ave. Short talks will introduce the topics at 5:45 pm. The entire Plan will be available for review and comments at each event.

3) Complete a Community Forum Survey. If you cannot make the Open House, you can provide input on the Plan through a survey on the Flagstaff Community Forum, until October 24th. Click here to take the survey
