LAUNCH Flagstaff: Your Vote Counts (Tuesday, Aug. 28) – Primary Election Day

 Advancing World-Class Education
Tomorrow, Tuesday August 28, 2018 is our Primary Election Day here in Arizona.  While the ballot initiatives you might have already been hearing about won’t appear until the General Election on November 6th, there are still important decisions to be made tomorrow that can effect our ability to advance world-class education for every child in Flagstaff.

Often times in Arizona, many elections for key public officials go uncontested in the General election, making the vote in the Primary Election the time when the actual choice gets made.  Couple that with the fact that many voters who have no party preference (independents) often fail to understand that they can participate in Arizona Primary Elections.

There is a lot riding on this election for the future of world class education in Flagstaff and Arizona.  This is why we have created an advocacy page for you to learn more about the election issues and candidates.

A world class education for us is:

  • Student focused and student led
  • Engages students with content relevant to their passion
  • Performance based with multiple opportunities to demonstrate mastery over time
  • Recognizes and honors educators as highly skilled professionals.

World class education creates:

  • Critical thinking
  • Self-advocacy and expression
  • Social-emotional skill development
  • Collaborative problem solving
  • Diversity
  • Global perspectives

So when you cast your ballot tomorrow and in the General Election in November, consider whether the issues you are deciding on, or the candidate of your choice is one that moves us forward toward a culture and system of world class education for every child, or does it impede us in achieving that goal.

The choice is yours.  Please exercise your choice by voting.

Best,

Paul Kulpinski
Partnership Director
