LAUNCH Flagstaff Monthly Update

 ADVANCING WORLD-CLASS EDUCATION

July was a busy month for the partners of LAUNCH Flagstaff and the coming months are shaping up to be even more exciting, so stay tuned!  Here are just three highlights from July.
3 STEPS FORWARD

KINDERCAMP™ – CELEBRATING COLLECTIVE IMPACT

KinderCamper learning with Play-DohThis summer has seen continuation of one of the best examples of Collective Impact: KinderCamp.

In its 13th year, KinderCamp™ has empowered youngsters by preparing them for school. With a classroom focus on academic, social and emotional readiness, KinderCamp™ teachers also meet with parents or guardians at home, ensuring the future kindergartener has a team of supporters.

The initiative was started with a collaboration of early childhood advocates including FUSD, Head Start, NAU, Coconino County Public Health and the Arizona Community Foundation. This collective impact has paved the way for the program’s expansion into Winslow, Williams, Page and Lakeside in Navajo County.

ARIZONA TOWN HALL IN FLAGSTAFF

Rich Bowen speaking at Arizona Town HallLAUNCH Flagstaff has partnered with the Arizona Town Hall organization to convene a Flagstaff Town Hall event on October 1, 2017 at Coconino Community College.  This half-day event will bring together one hundred and eighty community leaders, policy makers, educators and students around the topic of Funding for Pre-K – 12 Education.  The results of our event will become part of the state-wide 110th Arizona Town Hall in November.

In addition to the actual Town Hall event, LAUNCH will host a series of promotional events including a free education film series through the month of September and a Future Leaders Town Hall event for Flagstaff area high school and college students.

As one outcome of these events, community members will become more informed about the issues related to public funding of pre-K – 12 education and the collective efforts of the LAUNCH Flagstaff partnership.

LAUNCH 101 – THE BASICS OF COLLECTIVE IMPACT

When we tell people we want every Flagstaff child to be prepared for every opportunity, most people say, “how can we help?”  As an engaged member of the LAUNCH partnership yourself, there are several ways in which you can respond.

One of the best responses, is to ask them to sign up for this newsletter (Subscribe Here)

The next best way, is to attend a LAUNCH 101 presentation, where individuals can get a crash course on collective impact. It takes under an hour to learn about LAUNCH Flagstaff and to see potential positive pathways for all local children.  Over the past several months, many people have attended and the feedback has been positive about the value of this introduction.

Finally, make sure you feel confident in understanding the foundation of our mission – to advance world-class education.  Watch this one-minute video, designed to help make our definition of “world-class education” easier to understand.

World-Class Education for Flagstaff
Naturally, the best way to advance a culture of world-class education for every child in Flagstaff is for you to share our message throughout your network.  Please share this video and this newsletter across your network.  Please “Like” LAUNCH Flagstaff on Facebook and ask your friends to do the same.  Sharing information is one part of the power of collective impact.
