Mark your calendars as KNAU is bringing Garrison Keillor back to Flagstaff on Saturday August 26th with a live performance at the Pepsi Amphitheater at Fort Tuthill Park in Flagstaff, AZ.

Total solar eclipses cast an eerie darkness over the day, but astronomers say that’s an ideal time to study the sun. Jeff Hall is an astronomer and sun expert at Lowell Observatory. He says when the sun’s brilliance is blocked out by the moon, other solar features appear. Learn more at KNAU.org.

State Launches Public Awareness Campaign On Flooding Danger

State officials are launching a campaign to make Arizonans aware of the year-round risk of flooding, particularly during the monsoon. Director Wendy Smith-Reeve of the Arizona Division of Emergency Management says most people know Arizona has wildfires but that flooding is the most expensive and destructive disaster facing the state. Learn more at KNAU.org.

WW II Era Hand Grenade Found At An Arizona Construction Area
Authorities say a World War II era hand grenade was found in a construction area in northern Arizona and safely removed. Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Schuff Steel in Bellemont around 9 a.m. Wednesday after the grenade was found partially exposed above ground. Learn more at KNAU.org.
