FLAGSTAFF — The city of Flagstaff will host a dedication for a recently completed mosaic at the Joel Montalvo Park, adjacent to the little league fields at 5: 30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20. The dedication is open to the public.
The mosaicist, Sonja London-Hall, is local to Flagstaff and an experienced glass artist. Several nearby schools also participated in the project, creating tiles included in the piece. Sonja’s jazz band class will perform at the event, and the public can hear some of the stories and background of the mural creation. The park honors the memory of Joel Montalvo who was active in city politics and little league baseball. The mosaic and nearby landscaping improvements are funded by the BBB (Bed, Board and Beverage) tax.
