Jan. 11 — City of Flagstaff to present Fix-it clinic

FLAGSTAFF — The city of Flagstaff’s Sustainability Program will host a free Fix-it Clinic on Jan. 11, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Joe C. Montoya Community and Senior Center (245 N Thorpe Rd).

The Sustainability Program holds semi-annual Fix-it Clinics to help residents learn basic repair skills, save money and keep items out of our landfill. Volunteers with skills in soldering, electronics repair, electrical repair, sewing, woodworking or general tinkering will be available to help residents fix their broken household items for free. The last three clinics have seen an 81% repair success rate. Common items brought to the clinics include toasters, fans, bikes, clothing and lamps. A deconstruction table, where kids can take apart irreparable items and learn how they work, will be available.

The January Fix-it Clinic will also Mini-Drop Off Day where residents can bring batteries and CFLs for recycling.

Residents who are good at soldering, electronics repair, electrical repair, sewing, woodworking or general tinkering and would like to volunteer at the Fix-it Clinic can contact Maggie Twomey at (928) 213-2144.
