The Weird World of Upper Atmospheric Lightning

Thursday, March 13 | 7:30 – 8:30 pm | Visitor Center Theater

On rare occasions, under dark night skies, high above powerful thunderstorms, strange flashes of red and blue light leap skyward, forming dramatic, jellyfish-like shapes. These mysterious phenomena, known as sprites, are still poorly understood by science. In his final evening program, Stephen Hummel will explore how these events form and offer tips on how you might catch a glimpse of them yourself.

Meet renown father and son silversmiths, Henry and Ian Nez as they demonstrate their jewelry-making techniques and share their Diné heritage at Desert View Watchtower, from Tuesday to Thursday, March 18-20, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Henry, who learned the craft from his uncle, has spent the past 27 years refining his own distinctive style. A master of silversmithing techniques, he is known for his intricately inlaid silver bracelets and rings featuring natural stones.

Stop by to watch Henry and Ian bring their artistry to life as they create rings, earrings, pendants, and bracelets from start to finish.

Kaibab Learning Center Pi Day Pie Sale Fundraiser on March 14

The KLC will be having a Pi Day Pie Fundraiser Sale on Friday, March 14 from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the DNC General Store. Pie flavors include apple, cherry, chocolate cream, and lemon meringue.
