FLAGSTAFF — The City of Flagstaff reported that a donation account has been set up for the family of fallen Police Officer Tyler Jacob Stewart. City officials also thanked the hundreds who attended the candlelight vigil for the officer.
Officer Stewart was killed on Saturday, Dec. 27 while investigating a domestic violence incident in the Plaza Vieja neighborhood of Flagstaff.
The Arizona Daily Sun reported that the funeral for the fallen officer will be held Friday in Flagstaff.
Officer Stewart, 24 years old, was less than one year on the Department. Stewart graduated from Boulder Creek High School from Anthem Arizona, and Concordia College in California.
“This is an enormous tragedy for our department and the family of our Officer. We are a very close knit organization, and know that all members of the Flagstaff Police Department are grieving at this time. With that being said, all of the men and women of the Flagstaff Police Department extend our prayers and condolescences to the family of our Officer Tyler Stewart.” stated Chief Kevin Treadway.
Mayor Jerry Nabours commented, “It is heartbreaking to lose one of our officers. We collectively mourn for his family and the entire department.”
The Arizona Daily Sun also reported: “A bank account has been set up to accept donations for Stewart’s family. According to the police, donations can be made through Wells Fargo. The account name is “The Tyler Stewart Memorial” and the account number is 7764473984.”
