WE NEED YOUR VOICE!

If you cannot make this meeting, we want to hear your stories about finding affordable housing in Flagstaff!
Email your stories todtucker@friendsofflagstaff.org or directly to council@flagstaffaz.gov.

*Why “Attainable” and not “Affordable”? We’re looking for a way to “re-brand” the issue since “affordable” has a negative connotation for some folks and doesn’t help them envision a plan that covers everyone from Section 8 to our working middle class.

Bail and Bond Fund

The immigrant population in our city (and around the US) are increasingly at risk of arrest, detention and deportation – they can be detained for even a minor driving infraction.

These people are our friends, our families, and Flagstaff community members who help to make Flagstaff a wonderful place to live and work.

Friends of Flagstaff’s Future, along with our community partners (Together We Will Northern Arizona, Repeal Coalition, Keep Flagstaff Together), have created a Bail and Bond Fund to help our immigrant community members keep their liberty.

Please go to this GoFundMe page to learn more and donate whatever you can help this important work! Thank you so much!

F3 Welcomes a New Board Member: Darren Bingham

As a boy, Darren traveled the country with his family visiting national parks, zoos, museums, historical sites, and art galleries. This gave him a unique view of the world and has pushed him to be a forever student.

Darren moved to Flagstaff in the fall of 2017 from northern Utah to continue his education and to climb the rocks, trees, and mountains of the local area. He attended Utah State University and received a BS in Environmental Science. Currently, Darren is a candidate in the master’s of arts in sustainable communities program at Northern Arizona University and is receiving a certificate in city planning. He hopes to one day work as a director for sustainability at a company, city, or university. This will allow him to implement the necessary top-down policies he has learned over his education.

Darren is deeply connected to his natural surroundings and seeks to protect them from damaging behaviors. His love for critters started from a young age and continues to this day. He believes in the use of responsible and careful management to preserve our open spaces and public lands. Darren has an interest in bringing interdisciplinary groups together to solve the most challenging issues in our world. He is a big supporter of local businesses, energy sovereignty, active transportation, urban homesteading, sharing economies, and high-density mixed-use development. He believes that personal political engagement is critical to a thriving democracy and that you are the voice that will make the change you wish to see.

Darren hopes to address the challenges surrounding affordable housing, development, water, energy, and waste by using solutions that are socially equitable, financially viable, and ecologically responsible. He is super excited to begin his work with the other members of F3.
