FLAGSTAFF — Friends of Flagstaff’s Future will present the Livable Community Award to a Flagstaff resident at its annual meeting on Saturday, May 21 at 6:30 pm at Federated Community Church, 400 W. Aspen.
Three Flagstaff residents have been nominated for the award, which honors an individual who has worked to make Flagstaff a more “livable” community. The 2016 nominees are Marie Jones, for her work opposing The Hub student housing development and ensuring more appropriate development for our historic areas; Hattie Braun, for her work educating gardeners as coordinator of the Coconino County Master Gardener program; and Jack Welch, for his involvement in multiple efforts ranging from saving Picture Canyon to sitting on the board of Flagstaff Biking Organization (while we are pleased to honor Jack as a nominee, he is not eligible to win the award because he received it in 2003).
The Annual Meeting & Livable Community Award Ceremony is free and open to the public. Anyone interested in learning more about Friends of Flagstaff’s Future is encouraged to attend. The event is a potluck and participants are asked to bring a dish to share.
