FLAGSTAFF — The Flagstaff Police Department’s Citizen Liaison Committee recently held a socially-responsible goodbye potluck lunch for Police Chief Kevin Treadway, who retired on June 26 after serving the department for 34 years.
The liaison committee was formed in 2014 after Treadway called a community-wide meeting of local leaders to discuss revamping the department’s SB1070 immigration legal policies.
Chief Treadway and members of that meeting then began the initial discussion which led to the creation of the liaison committee, which supported the department’s early efforts to be one of the first in Arizona to provide body cameras for its officers and creation of a transparency webpage that “provides access to information of current public interest or to streamline access to information to commonly asked questions.”
During the event, Chief Treadway received an award from the Navajo Nation Human Rights Commission presented by Steven A. Darden and a ceremonial Navajo blanket and custom police chief badge from liaison committee member Rose Toehe.
