Flagstaff Festival of Science – Thursday’s Events

The 2019 Flagstaff Festival of Science continues through this weekend!  Here is a brief overview of some of the events going on today (Thursday).  Go to the programfor the full listing, and remember, everything is free!

Science Talks at Lowell Observatory

Experiencing the Apollo 11 Splashdown  (4 – 5 p.m.)
With a front row seat to the Apollo 11 splashdown, Navy helicopter pilot Captain Larry Duncan flew in new photographers to capture history.
New Horizons Exloring the Kuiper Belt  (5 – 6 p.m.)
NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft flew past an hourglass-shaped world earlier this year.  Hear what this object can reveqal about conditions in the outer solar system.

Astronomy for Preschoolers  (1:30 – 3 p.m.)

East Flagstaff Community Library.   Grades K – 5

Anatomy of a Portrait
Coconino Center for the Arts  (4 – 5:30 p.m.)

For middle and high school students. This drawing workshop invites student to learn about skeletal structure in creating human portraits.

Flagstaff Star Party

Buffalo Park  (6 -10 p.m.)
 
Explore Flagstaff’s precious starry sky with professional and amateur astronomers hosting 30 telescopes!

Mad About the Monsoon

Museum of Northern Arizona  (6:30 -8:00 p.m.)
