Dear Students and Families,
City of Flagstaff and the Chamber of Commerce is hosting a College Signing Day to celebrate the senior class of 2016 making the important decision to pursue their post-secondary dreams. On May 4th, our seniors will declare what they want to do with their futures and decide where they will go after high school. This includes students that are going to a trade school, community college, and four-year university. College Signing Day is something most often associated with students signing athletic scholarships, but every student should have the opportunity to be publicly celebrated for going to a trade school, community college, or four-year university.
Throughout the month, high schools across the country will host College Signing Day events to celebrate students who have made the decision to pursue post-secondary education in coordination with the First Lady’s Reach Higher Initiative. This event is sponsored by the City of Flagstaff, Chamber of Commerce, FMC, Wells Fargo, Balfour, the Flinn Foundation, and W.L. Gore Associates. In September/October, we helped our seniors apply to college during College Application Week and today we get to celebrate their efforts as they take this next big step. These events help us to grow the post-secondary going culture in our school and in our community.
All graduating seniors are invited to attend and are encouraged to celebrate the school spirit of the college of their choice by wearing their college shirts. Students will also have the opportunity to sign a banner that will be displayed at the City of Flagstaff. Parents, school administration, teachers, staff, and community members are invited to join the celebration.
The celebration will take place on Wednesday, May 4th at 4:30 PM in Rolle Activity Center located on Northern Arizona University’s campus. The address is 304 E Pine Knoll Dr, Flagstaff, AZ 86011. Parking will be available at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome. The event will not be in the Skydome, but will be in Rolle Activity Center.
