Flagstaff community celebrates ‘National Night Out 2017

 

FLAGSTAFF — Members of the Flagstaff Police Department, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Coconino County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, the Flagstaff Fire Department, the Flagstaff Police Department Citizens Liaison Committee, Coconino County Attorney Bill Ring and representatives from other regional law enforcement and first responding agencies helped the community celebrate annual “National Night Out 2017” on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at the Flagstaff City Hall Parking lot.

Under threatening skies with rain holding off until after the event ended, National Night Out 2017 provided an opportunity for law enforcement, first responders and a variety of community groups to share information with members of the public while the Flagstaff Community Band played on while thunder rumbled in the distance.

Some of those community organizations in attendance included Arizona Oncology, the Coconino Coaltion for Children & Youth, First Things First, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and United Blood Services.

“Give crime a going away party with informational displays about hands only CPR, city ordinance on animal control topics, bite prevention, local community mentoring programs, drug prevention, gang awareness, school-based health care information, and much more at the annual “National Night Out 2017,” according to the Flagstaff Police Department, which presented the annual event.

The National Night Out, is a year long community building campaign, designed to (1) heighten crime prevention awareness, (2) generate suppor for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, (3) strengthen neighborhood spirite adn police-community partnerships, and (4) send a message to criinal letting them know that neighborhoods ae organized and fighting back.
