FLAGSTAFF — Effective immediately, Flagstaff’s City Council and Commission meetings will not have an in-person public audience. The meetings will continue to be live streamed on the city’s website (https://www.flagstaff.az.gov/1461/Streaming-City-Council-Meetings) and the public can submit comments that will be read at the dais by a staff member to publiccomment@flagstaffaz.gov. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that avoiding close contact with people who are sick and putting distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. By closing meetings to an in-person audience until further notice, the city hopes to limit any spread of COVID-19.
“As the Mayor and meeting chair, after consultation with public health officials I am suspending in-person audiences at City Council and Commission meetings until further notice. This is to assist with promoting social distance measures as instructed by the CDC,” said Mayor Coral Evans. “The public is welcome to watch us streaming live from our website or and submit their public comments via email.”
Email comments should follow the same guidelines as the in-person comment process. Senders should include their name, agenda item, if they wish the comment to be read aloud (or disseminated in writing to Council) and no more than three minutes of commentary. Profane and threatening language will not be read.
