Upcoming Library Closures
The Downtown & East Flagstaff Community Libraries will close at 12:00pm on Tuesday, December 24th, for Christmas Eve & be CLOSED Wednesday, December 25th, for Christmas.
Adult & All-Ages Events
Tiny Book Ornament Take-and-Make Kit. Create your own tiny book ornament to hang on your tree or holiday display this year! Kits available at the Downtown Library Information Desk, starting December 1st, while supplies last.
Movie Night: Last Holiday. Georgia, who leads a life of unfulfilled desires, is shocked to discover that she has a terminal illness. She quits her job, gathers her savings, and sets out on a trip to Europe, but ends up living more than she ever imagined! Popcorn, cocoa & marshmallows will be provided! Tuesday, Dec 17th, 5:30-7:45pm Downtown Library Community Room. Rated PG-13 for some sexual references.
Cyber Security Basics. Come learn cyber security basics, including how to recognize whether a website is secure, how to make passwords strong and memorable, and how to recognizing and avoid online scams. Computers will be provided for classroom use. Seats are limited and registration is required. Register by calling 928-213-2331, or visiting the Information Desk or http://tiny.cc/emailbasics. December 17 @ 2-4 PM Downtown Library Community Room.
Wily Writers, weekly writing group. Starting August 7th! Make writing a habit with practice! With the use of prompts, time allotments, and group sharing, Wily Writers will learn more about their writing and support others along the way. You bring your writing tools and we'll bring the fun! Every Wednesday at 6:00pm Downtown Library Northwest Corner.
Book Clubs
Senior Book Club at the Joe C. Montoya Community & Senior Center. 3rd Monday of every month. December 16th at 1pm Hang the Moon by Jeanette Walls. Upcoming: Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty on February 10, 2025 (Special date due to President's Day).
Thursday Night Book Club. January 9 @ 6PM Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand. February 13 @ 6PM Swim Home to the Vanished. March 13 @ 6PM Sing, Unburied, Sing. Pick up a copy of the book at the Downtown Information Desk and meet in the downtown community room!
LGBT+ Book Club 2025. The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. January 13th at 6:30 PM. East Library.
Southwest Reads Book Club. A Walk in the Park. January 22 6:00pm. Two friends, zero preparation, one epic odyssey through the heart of the Grand Canyon. 4th Wednesday of every other month Downtown Library Community Room.
Youth Events
Join us at the Downtown Library for our 2024 Gingerbread House Program. For Ages 5 & Up. Get in the holiday spirit and make a gingerbread house out of graham crackers, sweets & treats. Wed., Dec. 18th 4-5 pm in the Downtown Community Room. Registration Required tiny.cc/gingerbreadfpl24
Holiday Movie in Pajamas: Arthur Christmas. Friday, 20th December 2024 @1:30pm. Wear your pajamas for a cozy time! All Ages.
Winter 2024. Storytimes at the Flagstaff Downtown Library. Saturday Story Stop. Year-round at 10:30am. Come to a fun-filled morning of storytime for ALL ages.
Friends of the Library
Become a Friend to the Library. How Our Group Helps? We raise money to help support our library system and their many programs. How Do We Raise Money? Membership Dues, Year-Round Book Sales, Special Annual Book Sale, Merchandise Sales, Generous Donations. We also host a special event for local authors. At this event, the Copper Quill Award is presented to a local author chosen by past Copper Quill winners. Benefits to You: Support your library, Early Access to Members Preview Day of Annual Book Sale, 25% off books being sold through Friends at the library.
Technology Help
Free Technology Instruction and Resume Help. 30-minute,one-on-one instruction sessions available for help with introductory software, creating email accounts, downloading eBooks, résumé development, online job applications, and more. Click here to see available dates. Registration is required for all sessions.
